How Do China’s Seven ‘Speak-Nots’ Play in America?

Posted by Larry Doyle on July 30th, 2013 8:08 AM |

People of faith are likely very familiar with the seven deadly sins: pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed, and sloth.

I think it goes without saying that our nation would be a better place if we had less of these vices on display. That said, our greatest virtues emanate from the very freedom that allows the aforementioned vices to gain a foothold. What if we did not have our freedom, though? Then what?

To explore this question, let’s navigate to The People’s Republic of China and review a recent report from Global Post that highlights:

In a directive reportedly distributed last month to local party committees, China’s top propaganda officials issued new

restrictions banning discussion of seven topics deemed to be “dangerous Western influences.”   (more…)

Memorial Day 2012: Let Us Remember…

Posted by Larry Doyle on May 27th, 2012 11:32 AM |

Is there anybody amongst us who does not believe we live in the greatest nation in the world?

Our nations’ greatness is a product of our freedoms. Let us never take gratuitous liberties with our freedoms. Nor should we ever think that freedom is our God given right as American citizens.

So many of our fellow citizens have made and are making the ultimate sacrifice so we may be free.

I salute the veterans who have made this sacrifice and the current members of our armed forces who put themselves in harm’s way so we here at home may have the freedom to pursue our dreams.

On this note, let us ALWAYS remember… (more…)

God Bless America!!

Posted by Larry Doyle on July 3rd, 2011 6:49 PM |

I hope that you are able to enjoy the holiday weekend celebrating our nation’s birth with family and friends. While many may not be able to celebrate with their loved ones, let us especially remember those who are serving our nation at this very moment.

As many across our land send off fireworks in celebration, those fireworks are truly an expression of the freedom we all enjoy.

Freedom is never free. Let us never forget that…

It’s the soldier, not the reporter who has given us
Freedom of the Press.
It’s the soldier, not the poet, who has given us
Freedom of Speech.
It’s the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the
Freedom to Demonstrate.
It’s the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the
Right to a Fair Trial.
It’s the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and
whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who gives the protestor the right to burn the flag.

To all those in our Armed Forces protecting our nation, I thank you and salute you.

May God bless you and may God bless America!!

Instead of Reviewing Sarah Palin’s E-Mail, The Media Should Investigate…

I love America.

I love when our nation rises to the occasion to help each other during times of national crisis. I love when people who would prefer to remain anonymous perform real acts of heroism. I am truly grateful to be a citizen of this great land and to have the freedom to pursue fabulous opportunities and to speak my mind while doing so.

While I love our great land, I cringe when I witness those whom I believe are more concerned with pursuing self-promotion than real national interest. I put Donald Trump in this camp.

I cringe when I witness those in public office or the public arena whom I believe lack the decency and integrity to be upstanding model representatives for our children. I put Anthony Weiner, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and David Vitter amongst many more in this camp. (more…)
