Those Uncle Sam Failed, Violated, and Left Behind

Posted by Larry Doyle on April 3rd, 2012 8:31 AM |

They are going to forget about me.

I have heard that line and iterations thereof from too many of our fellow citizens. Uncle Sam in the personage of Ben Bernanke, Tim Geithner, Henry Paulson, Mary Schapiro, John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and many others can talk about the actions they have taken and will take to save our economy and our nation; however, in the midst of their supposed efforts they have failed, violated, and left behind tens of thousands of our fellow citizens in their wake.

Of whom and to what do I refer?  (more…)

Sense on Cents 2011 Halls of Fame and Shame

Posted by Larry Doyle on January 1st, 2012 12:41 PM |

America wakes up this morning hopeful for a new year filled with peace and prosperity. Sense on Cents welcomes spreading our spirit of optimism.

Before we move forward, though, let’s take an accounting of 2011 and induct those most deserving into our Sense on Cents’ 2011 Halls of Fame and Shame.

Prior to our induction ceremony today, I am sure there are many in the crowd who may want to review our past award winners. On that note, I humbly submit:

Sense on Cents 2009 Halls of Fame and Shame

From the above Fame and Shame lists, I believe the top three in each Hall deserve special recognition. On that note, the medals go to the following: (more…)

What Should ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Demand?

Posted by Larry Doyle on October 11th, 2011 9:44 AM |

I received a call yesterday from a reporter from a highly regarded periodical inquiring about my recent commentary, ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Should ‘Occupy Washington’.

Having had a number of previous discussions with this reporter, I welcomed her question as to what I thought the OWS movement should look to achieve or demand.

I prefaced my comments by stating that I hope civil unrest and random violence do not come from these demonstrations. America needs a lot of things but we certainly do not need riots. (more…)

‘Mad as Hell, and Not Going to Take It Anymore’

Posted by Larry Doyle on July 27th, 2011 12:55 PM |

If this 5-minute video clip does not capture the spirit and rage that is boiling in our nation, I do not know what does.

I thank the regular reader who shared this with me. I commend Jim Garvin for standing up, speaking out, and sharing a healthy dose of ‘sense on cents’ in the process.

If you feel Jim’s pain and share his concerns, as I do, then spread his message. (more…)

Now We Know Who Blocked the Whistleblower Protection Act

Posted by Larry Doyle on April 6th, 2011 7:50 AM |

Let it be known that with this commentary the Sense on Cents Hall of Shame inducts Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). What have they done to deserve this “honor”? A recent release points the finger squarely at them for assaulting our prized virtues and never ending pursuit of truth, transparency, and integrity. Let’s navigate.

This past January 10th, I inquired Which U.S. Senator Blocked the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act? and wrote:

Let’s bang the drum once again to promote truth, transparency and integrity. In this rendition, let’s collectively work to expose the Congressional coward, that is the United States Senator, who blocked the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act. In the process, Senator “Coward” took a stand against our prized virtues while defending the monied interests of corporate elitism.

Did you just vomit thinking that our hallowed halls upon Capitol Hill are populated with such louts? Why haven’t others on Capitol Hill raised a hue and cry? Fellow cowards? You think? Getting their bread “buttered” in the process? You think? What happened to our country? (more…)
