Thomas Sowell: Freedom and Democracy Can Not Be Taken for Granted

America needs more men like Thomas Sowell.

A regular reader of Sense on Cents brought Thomas Sowell to my attention a few months back. Sowell was born in North Carolina and moved to Harlem at the age of nine. His personal story is beyond inspirational. I recommend it to anybody looking for evidence of how to succeed in the face of real odds.

America should embrace and elevate Thomas Sowell and his work. I am happy to do just that today. Sowell knows a thing or two about real freedom and democracy. Are we to merely assume because some in the Middle East may want freedom, that freedom will be theirs? We should not be so naive. (more…)

ARS ‘Penalty Does Not Fit the Crime’ or Why I Am Becoming a Libertarian

Why is it that so many people in our nation do not trust our government, our media, and our banking system?

In my opinion, America continues to look and search for people and programs that truly represent their interests. In the course of a conversation yesterday with a former colleague, he spoke cogently as to why he is moving toward being a libertarian and why he believes so many others are as well. I found myself agreeing with him on so many fronts.   (more…)

Continuing on our theme of pursuing truth, I am thrilled to have come across a recent interview that Lew Rockwell, the preeminent libertarian in the nation today, provided to The Daily Bell. This interview, “Lew Rockwell on von Mises, Ron Paul, Free-Markets, and the Future of Freedom”, is filled with incredible insights and perspectives.

While I am not one to promote political platforms, I am all for embracing those who desire the truth wherever it can be found. There is no doubt Lew Rockwell has a burning desire for this greatest of virtues.

I strongly recommend you read, ponder, and review Lew Rockwell’s thoughts and comments. He can certainly help us navigate the economic landscape.   (more…)
