I beg your indulgence today as I navigate off our traditional economic landscape to weigh in on the senseless, cold-blooded murder in Oklahoma of Chris Lane, an Australian student-athlete attending East Central University.
This situation bothers me and assuredly countless others on so many levels. While initial reports from many outlets would have us believe that this murder stemmed from bored teens looking for some form of sadistic fun and pleasure, are we so naive as to accept that on face value without looking deeper?
To do just that, let’s watch a brief 100-second clip of an interview of a local Duncan, Oklahoma citizen with a reporter from The Sydney Morning Herald and learn what he believes are the real factors behind this murder. (more…)

America has a problem dealing with the truth. You do not think so? Then why is it that NOBODY — and I mean NOBODY — in our mainstream media deals substantively with the following:
1. urban graduation rates
2. family structures in general and the rate of single parent births specifically
3. the fallout from both 1 and 2
If anybody seemingly comes close to these third rails, then the likes of Chris Matthews and others seem to rally to the defense and pull out the race card. Well, I will not even dignify Matthews, a fellow Holy Cross alum, or his like. I truly care about each and every citizen in our nation. I believe our nation can and will progress IF and ONLY IF we embrace the cold hard truth. (more…)

The greatest social program known to mankind is the two parent family.

I find it regrettable that for many in our nation, my broaching this topic is deemed politically incorrect and an inconvenient truth. Family issues encompass a wide array of social and economic topics. As such, and as I navigate our economic landscape here at Sense on Cents, I feel compelled to address them.
In my strong opinion, the media and those whom the media protect would like to distract the nation by discussing contraception rather than addressing the inconvenient truths of single parent families. Are we so narrow minded and unable to garner what is truly going on here? (more…)

This commentary provides a wealth of details and data along with some fabulous links. I firmly believe it covers the most important issues which will determine the future health and prosperity of our nation. It is a little lengthy, and for some perhaps overly sensitive—dare I say politically incorrect—but I hope you will take the time to read, review, and comment upon it. Thanks. LD
While there are plenty of pols in Washington and elsewhere who would like to paint a picture of a land divided along class lines, let’s not get distracted by those merely making noise to score political points.
Let’s dig a little deeper and determine who is not keeping up along our economic landscape . . . and why? (more…)
