Video: C-SPAN2/BookTV In Bed with Wall Street
Posted by Larry Doyle on January 20th, 2014 11:16 AM |
I have remarked to many people that with the publishing of In Bed with Wall Street, I am taking the pursuit of issues I have written extensively about at this blog to an entirely new level. To that end, the airing by CSPAN2 BookTV of my recent talk in Washington DC is enormously beneficial in doing just that.
My remarks provide a context on my background, my experience on Wall Street, my motivation for writing the book, the paths that I have travailed in the process, and ultimately specific reforms I would propose. The clip runs 39 minutes. I am pleased with how it is presented and am obviously interested in knowing what others might think as well. Click on the image below to launch the video page at C-SPAN.
I thank the law firm of Cuneo, Gilbert & LaDuca for hosting the reception at which my remarks were captured.
Navigate accordingly.

Reed (D-RI), Grassley (R-IA): FINRA Transparency and Expungement Relief
Posted by Larry Doyle on December 17th, 2013 8:19 AM |
Two weeks ago, the folks at the Project on Government Oversight filed a friend of the court brief in an attempt to bring some meaningful transparency to Wall street’s largest self-regulation organization, FINRA.
Why is it so important that FINRA be compelled to open its doors? Too many reasons, but one of them is embraced by Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) who yesterday provided further fuel to the fire for those looking for real transparency from FINRA.
Let’s navigate and review a press release that highlights just how opaque this organization is.
WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to protect investors and the integrity of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) BrokerCheck program, U.S. Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) today sent a bipartisan letter asking FINRA to clarify and strengthen standards for expungement of investor complaints against brokers. Sense on Cents Endorses H.R. 3482: Restoring Main Street Investor Protection and Confidence Act
Posted by Larry Doyle on December 16th, 2013 10:10 AM |
A year ago, I strongly endorsed H.R. 757 to restore credibility to the Securities Investor Protection Act that had been decimated by the manner in which the Madoff trustee went about its business.
That act went into committee at year-end 2012 and died there, strangled by those legislators feeding at the financial industry’s trough. Fortunately, the forces behind 757 are not easily swayed and they are back with H.R. 3482, legislation entitled as “Restoring Main Street Investor Protection and Confidence Act.”
I welcome endorsing it. Why? (more…)
JP Morgan To Settle Madoff Claim: Wall Street ‘Code of Silence’
Posted by Larry Doyle on December 12th, 2013 10:20 AM |
News breaks this morning that JP Morgan, Bernie Madoff’s lead banker, is close to settling with the Feds under a seldom used deferred prosecution agreement.
What is that?
Think of it as the equivalent of: You guys and gals had better behave yourselves going forward or we’re going to need to revisit this! Truth be told, a deferred prosecution agreement is tougher than the standard “neither admit nor deny” treatment accorded Wall Street banks. How so? It “lists the bank’s criminal violations in a court filing but stops short of an indictment as long as JP Morgan pays the penalties and acknowledges the facts of the government’s case.” Let’s revisit the Madoff trustee’s lawsuit brought against Morgan from early 2011. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
SIFMA to Address Investor Distrust of Wall Street . . . Really?
Posted by Larry Doyle on December 9th, 2013 6:34 AM |
When those paid to promote an organization or industry acknowledge that customers do not trust you, then you know you have a real problem.
On that note, Wall Street and, dare I say, Washington as well have real problems. Let’s navigate and work our way through some smokescreens.
The industry’s own trade organization, SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association), has recently launched an initiative designated as Our Partnership with You:
This is just one part of a series of initiatives that SIFMA will be rolling out to demonstrate our commitment to putting customers first.
Really? So quaint. Watch your wallets, folks. (more…)
‘Look Inside’ My Upcoming Book, In Bed with Wall St.
Posted by Larry Doyle on December 4th, 2013 7:21 AM |
Is there any other reason or greater motivation than the virtue of truth for why people ultimately choose to read the material they do? I think not.
Yet all too often the truth is distorted, if not denied, by those who might benefit from seeing that it remains buried. I launched this blog almost 5 years ago in pursuit of the truth and continue to do so today.
On January 7th, I welcome elevating this pursuit of the truth to an entirely new level and a much larger platform. As most who visit here regularly are well aware, on that day my first book, In Bed with Wall Street: The Conspiracy Crippling Our Global Economy, will be published by Palgrave Macmillan.
I am enormously proud of the endorsements the book has received from a number of individuals, including none other than a former assistant Inspector General for Investigations of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, David Weber. Additionally, a recent review offered the following:
His deep digging . . . qualifies as investigative journalism, and the scandalous details he recounts are impressive. The author has clearly done his homework while thinking about a reform effort . . . An important book . . .
I recently learned that the book will be named as one of “Ten Books That Matter” by the Project on Government Oversight for its upcoming 2014 Winter Reading List.
I am understandably pleased by all these developments, but the success of this book will ultimately be determined by you the reader. In an attempt to help you gain a greater understanding and appreciation for my pursuit of the truth and “deep digging,” we can now take a ‘look inside’ the book. In doing so, readers can check out the Table of Contents, a selected number of pages from the first 3 chapters, almost all of the 140 plus referenced resources in the Notes, and the Index as well.
Look Inside: In Bed with Wall Street: The Conspiracy Crippling Our Global Economy
The book is available both in hard copy and on Kindle, and can be ordered via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and IndieBound so that it will be delivered to you on the 7th of January.
I hope you will not only want to buy my book, but might also share this post with your family, friends, and colleagues so that they will do so as well. You can rest assured that I am not bashful in revealing details of people and situations from Wall Street to Washington lying ‘in bed’ with each other while the American public across the entire spectrum of our populace has paid and continues to pay a very heavy price.
I thank you for your support.

Poll: Is an $11B Fine The Right Justice for JPM?
Posted by Larry Doyle on September 26th, 2013 8:56 AM |
The rap sheet that has developed on JP Morgan over the last few years might have made John Gotti proud.
But remember, even though the Teflon Don escaped justice for a long time, ultimately the Feds caught up to him and he spent his last days listening to this.
Oh how the Don wishes he could have been a Wall Street banker rather than in the carting business and other organized activities. If so, he probably wishes he could be Jamie Dimon. Why so? (more…)
