Duke/CFO Survey: Obamacare, Economy and More

Posted by Larry Doyle on December 13th, 2013 9:04 AM |

I truly appreciate the opportunity to get information and data from the ‘canaries in the coal mine’ rather than the highly biased views from many paid political or business pundits talking their position.

On this note, I always keep a keen eye out for the surveys of the many hundreds if not thousand-plus CFOs collated by those at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. In the most recent release, over a thousand CFOs offer their take on the following:

1. Impact of Obamacare for their hiring plans in 2014
2. Global economic outlook for 2014
3. Thoughts on Social Security reform
4. Plans for charitable giving including a startling take on how giving — or not — companies in Europe are.

The clip runs a mere 5-minutes. I found it to be very worthwhile.

Navigate accordingly.

I thank those at Fuqua who share this with me.

Hot off the press, I just received the Duke University/CFO Magazine Global Business Outlook Survey. The survey highlights reasons for real optimism domestically but with ongoing concerns and risks as well. Let’s dispense with the formalities and dive right in to the voluminous amount of detail within this cutting edge and timely release.

Where else are you getting this sort of real time insight?

Let’s navigate.

DURHAM, N.C. — Optimism among U.S. and Asian chief financial officers jumped this quarter and the hiring outlook is strong for 2012. European CFOs also say 2012 will be an improvement over a difficult 2011. >>>>>>>> (more…)
