A Great Day for The Irish: Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Posted by Larry Doyle on March 17th, 2014 7:28 AM |

It seems only fitting that, with a surname like Doyle, on the 17th of March I should take a break from the daily navigation of the economic landscape, show off my ancestors’ breastplate, and spread a wee bit of Irish hopefulness to all who come here. On that note, I welcome sharing this Irish blessing:

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

With best wishes and Godspeed, I also hope people might take just a few minutes to enjoy this Irish classic:

Navigate accordingly.

An Irish Easter Blessing 2013

Posted by Larry Doyle on March 30th, 2013 5:06 AM |

This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad.

I beg your indulgence today and rest assured I will soon return to my regular navigating of our economic landscape but yesterday, today, tomorrow — and indeed everyday — is a gift. As we celebrate the great gift of life and hope provided us by our Maker whom I believe gave His life so we might be saved, let us pause and offer a prayer of gratitude. To that end, I welcome sharing Saint Patrick’s Prayer:

May the strength of God pilot us.
May the power of God preserve us.
May the wisdom of God instruct us.
May the hand of God protect us.
May the way of God direct us.
May the shield of God defend us.

Whether you visit my blog regularly, periodically, or just this once — and regardless of your faith calling — I wish you the faith-filled blessings of peace, hope, and love.

Today I have the great good fortune of being with close to four dozen of my family as we celebrate my folks’ 60th anniversary and upcoming birthdays. How does one properly say “Thank you” and “I love you” to the two people who have given me and my seven siblings (six brothers) the greatest gift of all, their love and inspiration. Well, Mom and Dad, today is your day!! I know I speak for all of us in stating, “We love you and thank you.”

Indeed, may the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. The rains fall soft upon your fields. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

An Irish Easter Blessing 2012

Posted by Larry Doyle on April 7th, 2012 4:44 AM |

There will be time to continue navigating the economic landscape but this weekend is a time for family, friends, and faith. In fact, wouldn’t it be great if we could always keep our proper focus and perspective when it comes to our family, our friends, and our faith? The world would be a better place if we could.

I hope for today and this weekend you have the opportunity to be with loved ones. In doing so, for those who share my faith let us reconfirm the greatest of all our beliefs,

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered died and was buried.
On the third day he rose again, in fulfillment of the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

For those celebrating Passover this weekend, and for those of other faiths, I wish for you real peace today and everyday.

For those who cannot be with family, please let me share this beautiful Irish blessing with a melodious accompaniment so God will watch over you and all of us.

After visiting with my fabulous Uncle Charles a few years back and prior to his passing in early 2010, I encouraged him to “keep the faith.” He responded, “No, Larry, no, do not merely keep the faith, spread the faith.”

Here’s to you, Charlie, and all the Doyles and other family and friends whom we remember today, tomorrow and throughout the year.

As I asked a year ago and will repeat again today, Charlie and my dear, departed loved ones, if you get a chance please put in the good word for us. A couple of the Doyle boys might need a little extra help getting through purgatory!!

On that note, for all those who visit and frequent Sense on Cents, I thank you for your interest and support of my work. However and wherever you may worship, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Can anybody in the crowd tell us the name of this beautiful and blessed spot in Ireland? For those who would like to know more, I am happy to provide this link.

May the Road Rise Up to Meet You

Posted by Larry Doyle on April 3rd, 2010 7:26 AM |

I have told countless people that my real goal with Sense on Cents is for anybody and everybody who comes to this site to feel more informed or more educated on financial, economic, or market-related issues when they leave.

This weekend is a time for family and friends. I hope you have the opportunity to spend time with your immediate or extended loved ones appreciating the most priceless of all assets: quality relationships.

If you have some downtime and want to navigate Sense on Cents, there are lots of different ‘trails’ here including Newsworthy articles, Financial Primers (right sidebar), Economic All-Stars (left sidebar), Career Planning materials, past shows of No Quarter Radio’s Sense on Cents with Larry Doyle, or utilize the ever expanding library of past commentaries by referencing your desired topic in the search window in the upper right.

If you care to mention to your family and friends, “You know, I have come across this pretty cool site called Sense on Cents,” I’d be most grateful.

No Quarter Radio’s Sense on Cents with Larry Doyle will return next Sunday evening.

If you are traveling, please be safe.

Thanks for your continued support. I will leave you today with perhaps the most cherished of Irish blessings:

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
