Detroit Councilwoman Wants Obama-Money
Posted by Larry Doyle on December 5, 2012 10:23 AM |
The political game of “quid pro quo”, another version of “payola”, used to have a degree of discretion. No longer.
In a bold and blatant message provided by Detroit City Council member JoAnn Watson, the racket of political payoff comes out of the backroom for all the world to see. Is this what the future of America looks like? The misguided and ill-conceived policies of ineffective politicians and their cronies take their case to Washington for a bailout from their friends in high places.
Many of our forefathers are certainly rolling over in their graves this morning. The clip only runs 55 seconds. I hope the impact on you lasts a lot longer than that.
God help us.

What does she mean by “our people”?

Detroit Cash Hole “Deeper Than Thought,” State Help Needed
I’m not from Detroit, but being outraged that votes are traded for favors is laughable..It’s been going on for as long as we’ve been a nation. What do you think lobbyists do? (BTW, if you want to see horse trading in action, go watch “Lincoln”..) And even the video notes that Presidents have bailed out cities before..In the case pointed out, it was NYC by the ‘white Republican’ Gerald Ford. Begging for favors, right or wrong, is the least of our worries. How about a recalcitrant House that seems Hell bent on destroying our Nation? Or our blind obedience to Israel which is using our $8 Billion gift every year to bulldoze Palestine? ..Pick a real issue. ;=)
Lots of veiled, and not so veiled, racist remarks on this blog. Many of you should wear white hoods while typing. The anti-government rhetoric is over the top and frequently extreme and in some cases downright scary. If he were still alive I’m sure Timothy McVeigh would love this blog. What the councilwoman suggests is not out of line. There is positive payback to those who vote for the winner of an election. Always has been. She’s just open and honest about it. President Obama, give the councilwoman what she wants. 75% of voters there supported you. Now help her out.
You sure you’re not looking for this blog?
whatever happened to the brown bags and cash….maybe they are using plastic…
Wait, I want some too. Don’t you? How about you over there? Dont’ you want some too? I think we should all get some bailout money. After all, isn’t that the business Uncle Sam is supposed to be in!? Larry, I agree with you: God help us all. DT
State Laying Groundwork for Managed Bankruptcy for Detroit
Giving money to Detroit is about as good an example as there is of throwing good money after bad. There would be no limit to that sink hole.
