Giving Thanks to Our Armed Forces

Posted by Larry Doyle on November 23, 2011 4:16 PM |

As people travel short and long distances to be with family and friends for this Thanksgiving holiday, I hope everybody arrives safe and sound and will enjoy the blessings and happiness that come from being with the ones you love.

Although our economy, our nation, and the world at large continue to deal with a host of issues, I can only hope that these times will help us elevate the importance of our families and our values to their rightful place.

Additionally, let us thank those who cannot be home with their families and loved ones as they protect our nation through their positions in our armed services. As a tribute to them and as a sign of the deep sense of gratitude that I have for their service, I am happy to convey my thanks by linking to this fabulous tribute provided by the West Virginia Mountaineer marching band.

You will want to watch this fabulous performance.

I thank you all for your service and commitment. May God bless you all and bless the United States of America!!

Very apropos, LD…Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours…when we pause and turn away from the many distractions of our everyday lives, and think of all the young men and women who are serving in the armed forces – and try to fathom the sacrifices and daily challenges of these brave individuals (and of their families), it is clear we are a people/a nation of many blessings, and we have much to be thankful for…very nice gesture by the West Virginia marching band…pretty stirring testimonial in front of tens of thousands at a football game…at least one university has its priorities right!

  • I love that song. We always play it on the Fourth of July. What an incredible job of marching to represent the services as well. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for remembering our Armed Forces.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all those serving overseas.

What is your take on the complaint brought by AIG’s former CEO Hank Greenberg?

    • LD

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving as well.

In regard to Mr. Greenberg, based on my understanding of AIG, Hank was a charter member of the crony capitalism crowd for an extended period. If AIG were properly regulated during his tenure, Hank would likely have other legal issues to address away from this lawsuit.

He should spare the nation of the ignominy of this affair once again.

AIG was one of many entities both on Wall Street and in Washington that made up ground zero in the financial crisis.
He should continue to take his tail between his legs and fade off into the sunset grateful that he was not held to a higher standard.
