There is no doubt we are navigating a challenging, if not treacherous, economic landscape. As with any challenging trip, prudence dictates we utilize all resources at our disposal. That said, there is no resource more valuable than that of experience. Whether involved in the markets or other business pursuits, the ability to gain the wisdom of those who have gone before us is priceless.
In this spirit, I am a huge proponent of the merits and benefits of mentoring. What greater gift can one give than the sage advice garnered from one’s experience. There is no greater gift for a businessperson than to point the way forward for future generations.
As we continue to navigate our current economic landscape and the peaks and valleys along the way, I am honored to have Bill Venezia join me this Sunday evening (8-9pm ET) on No Quarter Radio’s Sense on Cents with Larry Doyle.
Who is Bill Venezia? One of Wall Street’s giants, Bill was without a doubt the top bond salesman on the street. As good a salesman as Bill was, and he was the best, he is a better human being. Let’s learn more about Mr. Venezia:
Mr. Venezia, Founding Partner, has over 41 years of experience in the financial services industry. At KV Partners, he played an integral role in establishing, monitoring and managing the multi-class security financing program for a GSE over a 5 year period. With his partner, Tom Kirch, he conducted a strategic review for a broker dealer analyzing the existing business structure which resulted in a strategic reorganization. In addition, during the last 15 years, he has actively traded an in-house equity hedge fund for the firm.
Prior to founding KV Partners, Mr. Venezia was a member of the Management Committee at UBS Securities and the Managing Director responsible for the Fixed Income Sales Division with over 100 employees reporting to him.
From 1979–1989, Mr. Venezia was at First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse First Boston). As Managing Director, he was responsible for capital commitments of the mortgage product trading group, where he helped create and price a variety of new mortgage products, including the first asset-backed security. In addition, Mr. Venezia was responsible for risk management, oversight of trading positions and limits for the taxable fixed income division. He also acted as the primary interface for First Boston with all Government-sponsored Enterprises (GSE’s), including the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. (FHLMC).
As a fixed income salesman at First Boston covering mortgage products, government securities, corporate bonds, futures and options, he was the largest producing sales representative and was instrumental in determining the pricing and distribution of the first zero coupon, among other new products.
Mr. Venezia previously held fixed income sales and trading positions at Morgan Stanley and Co., Inc., Dillon Read & Co., L.F. Rothschild & Co. and Eastman Dillon.
Mr. Venezia is Treasurer and a member of the Board of the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation which provides educational scholarships to children of Marines and Federal law enforcement personnel killed in the line of duty.
